Digital World

I think everything is going more and more digital by the day! Digital is most defiantly replacing print more and more every day. To me it is a good and bad thing because it makes it easier for the consumer in my case. But at the same time it’s taking away revenue from business and in some cases loss of jobs. Word Color in Jonesboro just shut its doors in the past six months; they printed magazine. That was nearly 400 jobs in North East Arkansas gone. The demand had dropped so much in the past years a reason being from databases. At the same time your sources through digital databases are unreal. There is no way a library could ever compare or even have a third of the sources. This is definitely a topic that has its pro and cons. For this class though it is perfect a great source to have. I am taking this class online because I have a full time job, a family, and time is extremely valuable to me. I can’t imagine having to take my daughter in a library and try to do research for a paper. Convenience seems to be most peoples biggest priority because life style are so busy. Without the internet and everything it has I would be lost school would not even be an option right now.

  1. As someone who wrote a lot of research papers using the library instead of digital resources, I think people underestimate just how long it takes to find sources without those databases! I can't even imagine what it like when individuals were still using card catalogs.
